Any plan open sourcing collaber or part of it?

hi all,

I am a groove user (not the 2007), and was really impressed by the quality of Collaber. It already have 80% of functions normal users are expecting in our team (12 people). File revisions is what we are missing in groove, along with worskpace search functionnalities.

Do you have any plan on open sourcing Collaber? (be a part of eclipse consortium?) and/or publishing tools API?

Thanks

As of now there is no

As of now there is no interest in making Collaber Open Source. There are some other Open Source initiatives for building Collaborative applications like Collaber. We have showed our interest in making it open. But we did not get proper response. Not only that, Ours is small company who wants to make living out of Collaber. As there is no revenue source for us, It is not possible for us to make Collaber Open Source.

But we think there is no need to make it Open Source. We are always open for anything. If you want  to make any changes to Collaber, tell us. We will do it for you(improving, adding functionality).  We believe that no other company can contribute more to Collaber than us. We live in India. Our cost of development is lowest in the world(For the quality that Collaber needs).

If our development is slow its only due to resource constraints. But we believe that we are  prety fast in development.

Every part of Collaber is Open similar to Eclipse. You can develop your own tools, Make changes to GUI through normal Eclipse Plugins, Integrate with other applications using Remote API, Automate with built-in JavaScript Engine. Almost everything is possible with Collaber.

Once Collaber is fully stable and we have a revenue stream, then we will think of joining Eclipse or other Open Source projects.

1.0.8 version of Collaber will be the product you are looking for. It will be released shortly. Keep watching our blog.

Thank you very much for your interest
